BROMSGROVE shoppers enjoyed a fund-raising performance in High Street as part of a musical marathon.

Chris Bicknall, who works for the West Bromwich Building Society, performed outside the town's branch on Friday, December 13.

Chris played a selection of popular hits and some of his own original songs.

As well as the pressure of performing Chris was also battling the clock, as the gig was part of his Busk until Dusk initiative.

The challenge was for Chris to perform gigs outside the bank's branches in Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Stourbridge and West Bromwich, as well as in Bromsgrove.

Chris successfully managed to complete the 200 mile tour during the opening hours, and raised nearly £500 for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.

He said: “My nan was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer last year and the care and support she received from Marie Curie was absolutely brilliant.

"I was determined to think of a way of raising money on their behalf. I gig regularly in my free time, although I’ve never taken on a challenge quite like this.

“I really enjoyed the day and am overjoyed with the amount raised. I certainly hope the customers and shoppers enjoyed my performances as much as I did.”
