Police investigate two car key burglaries in Bromsgrove and Redditch

TWO car key burglaries in Bromsgrove and Redditch over the festive period are being investigated by police.

The first took place in Aston Fields between 11.30pm on Boxing Day, Thursday, December 26, and 7.20am on Friday, December 27.

A rear door of the Carlyle Road property was forced by offenders who took a camera and the keys to a red Subaru Impreza.

The vehicle, registration number DG08 FDW, was then stolen from the driveway.

The Pentax SLR digital camera that was taken, which was in a case, is worth £400 and is of great sentimental value as it had photographers of the victim's young son that were taken over Christmas.

Other items stolen included a sat nav, hands free kit, two holly wreaths, a pair of Oakley limited edition sunglasses, a waterproof jacket, hard hat, work boots, a high visibility coat and vest, and sportswear including trainers, tracksuit bottoms and shorts.

The second car key burglary happened in Hollywood between 10pm on Saturday, December 28, and 7am on Sunday, December 29.

Police say entry into the house in The Willows was possibly through an insecure door.

The keys to a silver Subaru Forester, registration BN55 UAY, were taken and the vehicle was then stolen from off the drive.

Detective Constable Tony Flannagan said: “We are appealing to people not to leave valuables in sight of doors or windows within their homes, or in their vehicles.

“West Mercia’s website has a wealth of crime prevention advice, including the new Citadel interactive house which shows the measures householders can take to reduce the likelihood of burglary, room by room."

Anyone with information about either burglary, or who sees either of the stolen vehicles, is asked to call police on non-emergency number 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
