ROCK fusion band Blue Touch Paper, lead by musician/ composer Colin Towns, will be performing at Bromsgrove's Artrix on February 26.

Colin is best known from rock band Gillan back in the late 70s, early 80s, or possibly from his Mask Orchestra - or even more from one of his many, many soundtracks (including the music to the Doc Martin series).

Blue Touch Paper is a sort of jazz, rock, fusion band and will appeal to jazz and rock fans alike.

It features well known names from the UK scene such as Mark Lockheart (Polar Bear, Loose Tubes) and Chris Montague (Troyka, Kit Downes) as well as musicians from Vienna, Berlin and Hamburg.

Their second album, Drawing Breath, was released last October to much critical acclaim.

Two years in the making, with more that 60 demo tracks recorded, Drawing Breath was the anticipated follow up to Blue Touch Paper’s debut album Stand Well Back.

Drawing Breath demonstrates an adventurous, visionary and powerful way forward, something we have come to expect from band-leader Colin.

Although the trademark cinematic moments and classical music are present as they were on Stand Well Back, Drawing Breath explores a developing energy within the band, with powerful compositions that continue to push the band forward both technically and creatively
