A BROMSGROVE event offering advice how to do business with public sector organisations proved a success.

More than 70 small companies in Bromsgrove and Redditch attended the networking event in the Spadesbourne Suite at the Council House in Burcot Lane.

The event was organised by the corporate procurement team for Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council, and was designed to support businesses with public sector purchases.

In the process, the businesses could also network with the other representatives attending.

Procurement staff from both local government and other public sector organisations attended the event, including council leaders.

Among those in attendance were representatives from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Worcestershire Business Central, Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Improvement and Efficiency West Midlands, Wyre Forest Council and the Federation of Small Businesses.

The event, held on January 15, built on the previously successful events organised by Bromsgrove and Redditch councils, as part of their commitment to assisting local companies in winning more business from the public sector.

Carmen Young, procurement officer, said: “Our local businesses are extremely important to the economy, particularly during such difficult economic times.

"This event is extremely useful as it will help businesses to make the most of what is available to them and build new relationships with the public sector."
