REDDITCH, Bromsgrove and Droitwich residents will have their last chance today to put forward opinions on the future of adult social care services in the county, as part of the Future Lives Programme.

In a meeting being held at Redditch Connect on Herbert Street in Redditch from 1-3pm, residents will be able to take part in a road show where representatives from Worcestershire County Council seek views on proposed changes to , early help and other support services for vulnerable adults and housing support for some young people that are currently funded by the Council, all of which are in addition to the council’s legal duties for social care.

The council is attempting to make budget cuts of £30million in 2014/15 followed by a further £25million per year until at least 2016/17, and cuts are being proposed to Adult Services and Health of £13million next year with an estimated £32million by 2016/17.

Cllr Sheila Blagg, Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Adult Social Care, said: "We have already received many comments from the public but feel it is important to also hold events so people can come and talk to use directly and raise their concerns.

“I would urge everyone to take part in this important consultation before 21 January and I assure you that all views will be listened to.”

The consultation closes tomorrow and an announcement on the full extent of the cuts is expected next month.

In addition to the road show, residents can follow the changes on Twitter with the hashtag #futurelives or send their views, ideas or suggestions to futurelives@worcestershire.gov.uk.
