A BROMSGROVE leisure centre is hosting a fun run raising money for a charity helping people at home and abroad.

The Ryland Centre, in New Road, is staging the Bromsgrove mile - one of a number of Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile events being held nationally on Sunday, March 23.

There will be three different distances for people to enter on the day: one mile, three miles and six miles.

The event is being held from 10am until 2pm, with one mile events at 10.45am and 11am. The three and six mile runs will take place at 11.30am.

All the money raised goes to Sports Relief which carries out various charity work including helping give shelter to young people living on the streets of the UK, and supporting people abroad by providing life-saving vaccines and fresh water.

Matt Hill, the Ryland Centre's activities co-ordinator, said: "This is your chance to run, walk, jog or push a pushchair or wheelchair around the Ryland Centre athletics track, have fun and raise lots of money for a great cause.

"All milers receive a fantastic sport relief medal and the satisfaction of making a difference to the lives of many disadvantaged people."

People wanting to take part are being encouraged to sign up online, at sportrelief.com.
