HAILED by the great Mick Jagger himself as “the most famous Stones band in England”, The Counterfeit Stones are more than just a tribute to the Rolling Stones.

In their own words the band are complete re-enactment.

However, leaving it there would not do the talented tribute act justice.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a re-enactment of one of the greatest rock bands of all time but The Counterfeit Stones are so much more.

With a healthy smattering of Spinal Tap style humour, the band make their shows not just about the fantastic music.

With the added videos in between costume (and occasional band member) changes it gives the show an almost theatrical feel and makes it much more enjoyable as well as interesting.

Add to this the top quality banter and performance from Nick Dagger (played by Steve Elson) and the show becomes not just a gig but a great night out, something special.

Not to be outdone, the rest of band, Keef Rickard (Bill Lennon), Charlie Mott (John Prynn), Bryon Jones, Mick Taylor-Made and Ronnie B Goode (the very talented David Birnie), Bill Hymen (Steve Stroud) and Nicky Popkiss (Daniel Dibdin) shine as not just clearly competent musicians but also stars of the stage.

The whole band come across as though they are loving every minute of it and that goes down exceptionally well.

So much more than just a by-the-numbers tribute band The Counterfeit Stones have successfully toured the globe for nearly 20 years.

During that time they have played shows with audience capacities of up to 60,000 and can count their many fans as Bill Clinton, Prince Edward, Lemmy, Mick Jagger, the Gallagher brothers, Jerry Hall and many, many more.

The band formed in October 1991, and although there have been some personnel changes since then, the characters of course never change.

Anyone looking for a great evening out, with amazing music and fantastic showmanship, as well as something that will make you laugh, should check out The Counterfeit Stones.
