LEAGUE tables showing how well Bromsgrove and Droitwich schools did in GCSEs and A-levels have been released.

The Key Stage four tables were published by the Government yesterday , (January 23).

Top performer was Dodderhill School, in Crutch Lane, Droitwich, where 97 per cent of pupils achieved the five A* to C with English and maths standard, with the school ranked second within Worcestershire.

North Bromsgrove High School, in School Drive, was also celebrating after 73 per cent of its pupils achieved the standard, and was ranked 12th in the county.

South Bromsgrove High School, in Charford Road, had an impressive 69 per cent of pupils achieving the Government standard and ranked 18th in the table.

Waseley Hill High School, in School Road, Rubery, had 55 per cent of pupils achieving the standard, while Droitwich Spa High School, in Briar Mill, had a figure of 51 per cent.

No figures for Bromsgrove School were given for technical reasons as pupils from the Worcester Road-based school were entered for different exams.

In A levels, Bromsgrove School ranked second in the county for the average point score per A level student, with 917.

Droitwich High School also ranked highly, in seventh, with a point score of 877.

South Bromsgrove High School had a point score of 756, while Waseley pupils achieved an average of 738.

North Bromsgrove High School had an average point score of 682 and NEW College achieved a point score of 543.

The average point score in the county was 768.6, lower than the national average of 796.5.

Worcestershire County Councillor Liz Eyre, the cabinet member for children and families, said: "The figures released today indicate an improving picture for Worcestershire with 62.9 per cent of students attaining five or more A* to C GCSEs, including English and maths, compared to 60.7 per cent the previous year - which remains above the national average of 60.6 per cent.

"I'm really pleased that schools in Worcestershire are continuing to perform well and these results reflect the hard work and commitment of students, staff as well as those who have supported them.

"These tables should reinforce the confidence that parents have in our schools and the standard of the provision for their children."
