CATSHILL Post Office could be on the move to a new location in the village, it has been announced.

The post office is currently based at Meadow Road, Bromsgrove.

A proposal had been made to move the village's post office to the One Stop store, in Woodrow Lane, Catshill, 600 metres from the current site.

The Post Office is now inviting customers and other interested parties to give their comments on the move, as part of a six week consultation before a final decision is made.

The new store would feature a modern open plan counter with post office products and services, alongside retail transactions, designed to be convenient to customers.

The branch would also be open from 6am to 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and 7am to 11pm on Sunday - 72 hours more than are currently offered at the existing village store.

The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

Post Office regional network manager for central England, Adrian Wales, said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to residents in Catshill and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“The proposed changes to the branch are part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

Anyone who wishes to have a say on the proposal is asked to call 08457 22 33 44, email comments@postoffice.co.uk or write freepost, to Your Comments, Post Office Ltd.
