REDNAL youngsters have participated in a range of Chinese New Year activities.
Youngsters from the Plus 2 playgroup based at St Stephen's Church, in Rednal, celebrated Chinese New Year by making Chinese hats, dragons, masks, decorations and zodiac wheels.
The children dressed up and Chinese food was served including noodles, rice and prawn crackers - with the youngsters challenged to use chop sticks.
They also participated in a lion dance and listened to a Chinese New Year story about the animals race.
The story focused on the importance of working together, helping each other, and that all the animals were equal and were winners for completing the race.
All the children were able to take home a Chinese red lucky bag and pretend firework sparkler.
Julie Kite-Lightfoot, playgroup manager, said: "It was a very enjoyable week which introduced the young children to different cultures and celebrations."
She added that the children were able to take home a Chinese red lucky bag and pretend firework sparkler.
