A BROMSGROVE brownie group has been given a funding boost allowing members to take part in a special birthday camp.

The 1st Catshill Brownies asked councillor for the village, Helen Jones, if she knew of any funding available.

Coun Jones put them in touch with Worcestershire County Councillor Sheila Blagg, who had money available from a divisional funding pot.

The group has never had camping equipment, so the money is being used to buy equipment so the brownies can enjoy an outdoor adventure, instead of choosing to stay in lodges.

Lorna Meer, unit leader for Catshill Brownies, said: "1st Catshill Brownies had fun practising putting up their new tents.

"They are now looking forward to celebrating 100 years of brownies by taking part in a Big Brownies Birthday Camp in the summer.

"We are very grateful to Sheila Blagg for the donation from her community fund which has allowed us to buy the tents."

Coun Blagg said: "The community fund allocation has been welcomed by councillors so that they can support charities and voluntary groups develop long lasting benefits for their community.

"I am pleased to see this benefit to Catshill Brownies."
