A 67-YEAR-old Finstall man has been charged along with six others from across the Midlands, as part of an investigation into a major conspiracy to import illegal drugs into the UK including cannabis, amphetamines and MDMA.
Robert Whitehouse, from Dusthouse Lane in Finstall, was charged with conspiracy to import class A and class B drugs and money laundering.
He joins six other men from Worcester, Ross on Wye, Newent, Brownhills, and Walsall in the UK, all of whom have been charged with offenses relating to the investigation.
An eighth man Jacobus Samson, a Dutuch national was arrested in Beek in the Netherlands, and he is currently helping Dutch and German authorities with their inquiries into the conspiracy.
Three other people, a 42-year-old man from Cheltenham, and a 54-year-old woman and a 66-year-old woman from Worcestershire, have also been arrested in relation to the inquiry, but have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
All of those charged are due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.
