Quartet returns to the Artrix
10:25am Friday 21st February 2014 in Local
AFTER a concert last year had to be cancelled due to heavy snow, the Tippett Quartet is making a second attempt to play at the Artrix this month as part of Bromsgrove Concerts.
The quartet combine a mixture of some mainstream classics, with contemporary music in their performances, and they are planning to mix things up a little in Bromsgrove, with a Mozart Quartet and one of Beethoven’s Rasumovsky quartets, sandwiching a quartet by 20th century Leamington spa composer Robert Simpson.
Mr Simpson spent many years as a BBC music programme producer, writing 11 symphonies and 15 string quartets.
Janet Upward, chairman for Bromsgrove Concerts, said: “This is rare opportunity to hear a live performance of one of his quartets. He's a real craftsman of the genre and well worth hearing, and with the Tippett Quartet’s reputation for excellence and communicative spark we can look forward to an evening of live music of the highest quality.”
The performance is taking place at the Artrix on Friday, February 28 from 8pm. Tickets are £17 with concessions available, and young people under 25 will be admitted free to all concerts thanks to the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust.
