FIREFIGHTERS have urged people to be careful when making pancakes.
In the run up to Shrove Tuesday, next week, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have reminded people not to leave frying pans unattended when the heat is switched on and to keep children away from the cooker.
People should also never throw water over a pan if it is on fire.
Station Commander Alan Haley: “Making pancakes can be lots of fun for the whole family but a high proportion of accidental fires in the home start in the kitchen, and so it’s essential to take care, especially when cooking with hot oil.”
