TOWNFOLK are being urged not to delay and sign up for a Bromsgrove leisure centre's fund-raising event that is now only two weeks away.

The Ryland Centre, in New Road, is staging the Bromsgrove mile - one of a number of Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile events being held nationally on Sunday, March 23.

Hundreds have already signed up to run the one, three, or six mile events, but there is still time to enter.

All the money raised goes to Sports Relief which carries out various charity work including helping give shelter to young people living on the streets of the UK, and supporting people abroad by providing life-saving vaccines and fresh water.

Matt Hill, activity development officer at the Ryland Centre, said: “We are delighted that so many people have already signed up but we want even more people in Bromsgrove to take part and make it the best Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile yet.

"So let’s show the rest of the country what we can do and raise as much money as we possibly can for this incredible cause.”

People wanting to take part are being encouraged to sign up online, at sportrelief.com.
