YOUNGSTERS in Marlbrook can enjoy a brand new play area that has been unveiled.

The Braces Lane Recreation Ground has been transformed into a play area designed to suit the needs of children and their parents and carers.

Their requirements were established through a consultation, held last year.

Bromsgrove District Council used section 106 funding - a financial contribution from developers to help improve an area - to create the new play area that has a natural play theme and uses natural materials.

The park now features a toddler climb and slide unit, a tepee, toddler and junior swings, a trampoline, a dish roundabout, springy and stone compass and an additional new basket ball post.

The works also included taking away old bark and steel units to create a fenced natural area with link pathways, and benches and stone seating for parents and guardians.

The play area was officially opened on Friday, (March 7), by civic head Councillor Helen Jones, Councillor Mark Bullivant and parks and green space maintenance and technical officer Adam Houghton.

Coun Bullivant, the portfolio holder responsible for leisure services, said: “I am delighted to have opened the new play area and I think the natural theme is really great.

"I know that the children of Marlbrook will really benefit from and enjoy this new park.”
