SECOND year music technology students at NEW College are organising a concert in aid of cardiac charity SADS UK.

The evening concert, staring the local band The Quik, will take place at the Artrix Arts Centre on Thursday, March 27 at 7.30pm.

The concert aims to raise money for SADS UK, which funds research into SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) and provides cardiac equipment such as heart monitors, event recorders and defibrillators to save lives.

A  SADS UK spokesman said the charity was very grateful to the NEW College students for raising awareness and funds at the event.

Tutor Angie Keogh said: "The students have been working closely with SADS UK to learn how fundraising works in public events such as their concert.

"It’s exciting for the students to gain the experience of working with a real charity and band to produce what will be a great night of mod music."

Second year student Kate Rose is acting as event manager for the concert. She said: "I am excited and inspired about the challenge of running this music concert in aid of a great charity. The Quik are great supporters of SADS and will give a great evening of entertainment. It’s going to be hard work, but worth it."

Tickets for the event are available for purchase for £6 each from the Artrix at artrix.co.uk. All proceeds will be donated to SADS UK.
