AN AWARDS night has been held by the Royal British Legion after a year of fundraising that has far surpassed the last.
The Bromsgrove Branch of the Royal British Legion raised £21,175 during 2013, beating last year's total by more than £2,000.
The branch held an awards night to thank the fund raisers and also thanked all the people of Bromsgrove who helped contribute.
Awards were given out for length of service to a number of members including Pauline Troth, Brian Buggins, Terry Groves, Fred Pearson, Tony Warren and Fred Stanley for 30 years service, Averl Perks for 35 years service and Derek Goode for 40 years service.
There were also awards for hardware shop Broad Street DIY and Thomas Barrett for raising the most money as an independent trader and individual respectively.
If you wish to get involved with the Bromsgrove British Legion or help in this year's Poppy Appeal contact branch chairman Patrick Smith on patrick.smith@uwclub.net or 07949789841.
