GREEN-fingered youngsters at a Bromsgrove school have been helping to transform the school's garden.
On March 28, St John's School invited pupils, parents and volunteers to help prepare the garden for the forthcoming year.
Cheerful volunteers, including staff from ASDA Bromsgrove, brought along their own spade or fork to take part in the project at the Watt Close-based school.
The groundwork was laid and all the hard work means it is ready for the next stage of improvements.
These include incorporating an outdoor reading area for the children, a new path through the garden, a new area for chickens to live, and planters for an outside learning space.
Tea and coffee, cakes and biscuits were served so everyone kept up their energy.
Jayne Jennings, from the school, added that an apple tree was also planted for the school's orchard, which has a genetic link to the apple tree under which Sir Isaac Newton himself sat.
