BROMSGROVE runners are preparing to take to the streets of the capital for a fundraising marathon this Sunday, (April 13).

Woodland Grange residents Daniel Taylor and Susan Schwab are running the London Marathon.

Daniel Taylor, an assistant headteacher, is running for the Children With Cancer charity while Susan Schwab, who works at the QE Hospital, is running for ActionAid for Children.

Both have been in intense training in the past six months in preparation for the 26-mile challenge.

Daniel and Susan have gained support from residents and local businesses, as they attempt to each raise around £2,000 for their charities.

Susan said: “We have been thrilled that businesses such as Jukes Insurance, Webbs, Worcestershire County Cricket Club and the Birmingham Hippodrome have so far supported us but more is needed if we are both to hit out fundraising targets for these two very worthy charities.

"Training has been gruelling but all donations, large and small, go a long way towards making this experience even more worthwhile.”

In order to further boost charity coffers the pair have organised a charity auction and raffle on Saturday, May 3.

The event is being held from 6pm at Lickey End Social Club, in Alcester Road.

Tickets cost £10, which includes a buffet and desserts. Children go free.
