YOUNG litter-pickers from Meadows First School have carried out a tidy-up of a pathway near their school as part of a council campaign to keep streets tidy.

Year four pupils carried out the clean-up operation using special gloves, tabards and bags provided by Bromsgrove District Council, which is heading the Love Where You Live campaign.

Teacher Sara Date said: “The children were fed up of the pathway outside their school being untidy so we thought a litter pick would help give the area a mini facelift.”

The council’s waste awareness officer Peter Brown, who is leading the clean up campaign, said: “We are delighted that the school has asked for our help, but we want everyone to take pride in their area and stop dropping litter or letting their dogs poop in public places in the first place so these clean-up operations won’t be necessary.”
