PATRIOTIC residents in Rubery were flying the flag and banners to celebrate St George's Day, (April 23).
A total of 22 retails shops and businesses along the village's High Street took part in this year's window dressing competition to honour the patron saint.
In addition to the window displays, the street was brightened up by colourful paintings and bunting produced by children from Beaconside and Holywell Primary schools.
The window dressing competition was won for the second year in a row by PDSA charity shop, which had both windows decorated with flags, bunting, a life size St George, a dragon and a castle.
An added feature in their entry was drawings and flags made by the children of St Oswald's Pre-school Playgroup.
Judges were also impressed by other entries including Scissor Stitch that had a window display comprising several colourful items and bunting made exclusively from materials sold in the shop.
A spokesman for the event organiser, The Rubery St George's Society, said: "This was an extremely successful event and a number of organisations in the local community all contributed to achieve its success."
