A SUPPORT worker from a Bromsgrove service helping adults with learning difficulties has scooped a prestigious award.

John Rose won the Ancillary Worker Award at The Great British Care Awards held at the end of April.

John picked up his prestigious award at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane.

Amber Support Services, based in Broad Street, supports adults with disabilities, specialising in autism and behavioural issues.

The senior support worker went up against tough competition in his category, which recognised hardworking individuals who were able to provide examples of initiatives and excellence in their work.

John's dedication to the Market Garden Community project, and other initiatives he has led, all helped him win the award.

“I am just over the moon to have won this award as this recognises not only my achievements but those of my colleagues," he said.

"It is a great honour to be part of such an important event which celebrates excellence across the care sector and takes huge efforts by all those involved.”

The Great British Care Awards are recognised by many to be the most important awards in the care industry, representing all care providers nationally.

They have also received support from across the social care sector, including the Department of Health, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, Care England, and the Social Care Institute for Excellence.

Jane McDonald, of Loose Women fame, presented the awards at the ceremony.

Jacqui de Sousa, Amber Support’s chief executive, added: “We are all very proud of John’s achievement, which reflects not only his hard work but also his tremendous commitment to making a difference to the lives of the clients he supports.”
