RESIDENTS at St John's Court Nursing Home in Bromsgrove had a magical May Day as they joked and japed around the maypole.
Those living in the home helped staff to make the maypole in preparation for the celebration and started to research the history of this very British tradition.
Activities coordinator Heather Mitchell said: "We investigated and traditionally May Day was celebrated to bring in the spring."
They frolicked with their bells, ribbons and homemade headdresses on Bank Holiday Monday and Heather said the residents really enjoyed making the maypole and finding out what it is all about.
Staff at the home like to put on as many events as possible during special occasions and speaking before the maypole fun Heather said: "Everyone is really excited about it and looking forward to the day but I think the staff need a bit more practice before the real thing."
