BROMSGROVE residents are being invited to a fair being organised by a town surgery ahead of an awareness week.

National Patient Participation Awareness Week is being held between June 2 and 7, and is designed to promote the Patient Participation Groups (PPG) in GP surgeries across the county.

New Road Surgery's PPG was formed in 2012 and since then has carried out valuable work in bringing numerous beneficial changes.

These include review of the appointments system and making access to appointments easier, introducing text messaging to patients, changing the practice telephone number to the Bromsgrove code, regular updates to the practice website, conducting annual patient surveys and acting upon issues raised.

During the awareness week, the New Road Surgery group has organised various activities including patient surveys and a recruitment drive giving townsfolk the opportunity to become a member.

Patients can also sign up to the group for free, by filling in an application form available from the surgery's reception.

Before the awareness week a May fair is being held on Saturday, May 17, from 10.30am until 12.30pm.

The group is promising fun for all the family and everyone is welcome to attend.
