BROMSGROVE police need witnesses to a road collision in which a teenager died to come forward.

The incident happened at the junction of the A38 and New Road just after 10.20pm when the 17-year-old, who lived locally, was in collision with a Toyota Avensis driven by a Redditch man.

The pedestrian suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance crews and a doctor.

The Toyota driver was not injured but was treated for shock by paramedics.

The Worcestershire Coroner has been informed and an inquest is set to open.

An investigation has been launched by West Mercia Police, who are now appealing for people who saw anything to contact officers.

PC Sarah Skelding said: “This incident has tragically resulted in the death of a young man and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time for them.

"We need to establish the full circumstances of how this happened and therefore if anyone witnessed the collision or noticed either the teenager or the car involved immediately beforehand then please get in touch with us.”
