NEW street lights are being installed in a Bromsgrove alleyway following a campaign by councillors.
The LED lights have been installed on the alleyway linking Churchfields Road to the town following a campaign by the local community and councillors.
Residents reported that the alleyway was dark at night and a risk to safety due to the gloom and undergrowth along the path.
Utilising Worcestershire County Council divisional funds, councillor for Bromsgrove West, Luke Mallett - also the Labour leader on Bromsgrove council - pushed forward the project to install better lighting in this alleyway.
The light was switched on for the first time bringing much needed light at night.
The cut through Sidemoor to the town is a well used walking route and also part of the national cycle network.
The new energy efficent lamp provides a much needed night time light.
Cllr Mallett said: āI am delighted to have been able to support the installation of this street light.
"It will undoubtedly improve safety and reduce the risk of crime within the area.
"Iām pleased we have been able to bring a bit of light to this key Bromsgrove pedestrian and cycling route.ā
