MEMBERS of Bromsgrove Operatic Society, which has been staging musicals in Bromsgrove for over 30 years, will be returning to the stage at Bromsgrove's Artrix.

The group will be bringing its production of Gershwin's Crazy For You to the School Drive venue from June 17 to 21.

The popular story of boy-meets-girl is given a wild-west makeover when playboy banker Bobby Child is tasked by his domineering mother with foreclosing on a theatre in run-down Deadrock, Nevada.

Bobby, whose dream of dancing on the stage is at odds with the wishes of his frustrated fiancée, meets Polly, the feisty daughter of the theatre owner and promptly falls in love.

Disguised as theatre impresario Bela Zangler, Bobby decides to put on a show with the help of his friends, to raise the money needed to keep the theatre open.

He galvanises the residents of the sleepy town and slowly wins the affections of Polly, but when the real Bela Zangler stumbles into town Bobby's true identity is discovered, with hilarious consequences.

Supported by a cast of glamorous showgirls and singing cowboys, Bobby and Polly fall in and out of love before a heart-warming finale brings them together in front of the entire town.

Featuring unforgettable Gershwin songs including I Got Rhythm, They Can't Take That Away From Me, Embraceable You and Someone To Watch Over Me this is an unmissable event.

Bromsgrove Opera Society chairman Ian Cox said: "This show is fun, exciting and fast moving and we hope that many local residents will come along to enjoy some memorable Gershwin tunes and fabulous dance routines."

Tickets for the show cost from £14 and are available from the box office on 01527 577330 or online at artrix.co.uk.
