TWO members of staff at a Rubery pharmacy have been given an award for their hard work, dedication and training.

Sharon Evans, the counter assistant at Knights Pharmacy in Rubery, and Myra Gauntlett, accredited checking technician at the pharmacy, attended Training Matters magazine's awards on May 21.

The pair were shortlisted from hundreds of entries and narrowed down to a final 48. They then had to answer a set of pharmacy related questions and explain their role and why they deserved to win.

Sharon and Myra were invited to the finals at the Landmark Hotel in London, where they met by six judges and enjoyed a meal with the other finalists.

After the meal Sharon and Myra were named winners in the counter intelligence and highly commended pharmacy technician of the year categories respectively.

Myra said: "We had a lovely day at the awards. It's nice to have our hard work recognised."

Sharon added: "I really enjoy my job and this is great motivation to continue to develop in my role."

Jessica Banner, development manager for Knights, said: "We are really proud of Sharon and Myra, they work really hard, provide excellent services and relish new training opportunities to help our customers and patients.

"They are a credit to Knights Pharmacy."
