YOUNGSTERS from Bromsgrove are being given the chance to take part in a new running event being held in the town.

The junior parkrun programme is the first being held in the West Midlands.

Young runners can take part in the event, a two kilometre in Sanders Park, in Kidderminster Road, every Sunday beginning July 20.

Runners, aged between four and 14-years-old, are invited to participate in the free event.

The event is part of the national parkrun programme launched by people of all fitness levels, held at community spaces up and down the country.

Runs are timed, marshalled and supervised by volunteers.

The programme has been supported by Councillor Luke Mallett and Worcestershire County Council's divisional fund.

To take part participants need to print off their barcodes from the parkrun website, and bring this to the event, which starts at 10am.

Children under 11 must have an adult present with them at all times.

To get a barcode, or for more details, visit parkrun.org or email bromsgrove-juniorsoffice@parkrun.com.
