FESTIVAL fun continues in Bromsgrove this week with various events giving townsfolk the chance to try something new.

Worcestershire high schools Poetry Slam event is being held at the Artrix Theatre, in School Drive, tomorrow, July 10.

Also tomorrow Bromsgrove's 24th annual folk festival, being held at The Bowling Green Inn, in Shaw Lane, Stoke Prior, begins.

The festival features traditional Singin' and Suppin' Sessions, with concerts where local, national, and international artists, including Richard Digance, Dougie Maclean and folk rockers Blackbeard's Tea Party, will be appearing.

Dance displays and the popular World Dry Foam Flinging Championships will be taking place on Sunday lunchtime.

Internationally renowned Ex Cathedra bring their SingMaker project to four first schools in Bromsgrove for a day of rehearsals, culminating in a project showcase at Artrix on Friday.

On Saturday, the Poetry Army Arts Council Tour heads to the Artrix.

Also on Saturday, St Andrew's Church in Barnt Green hosts leading chamber orchestra Sinfonia of Birmingham, which will be performing a concert of popular pieces including Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

As part of the carnival weekend there will be a live performance from Facta 3 on Saturday, and Worcestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra on Sunday, at the Bandstand in Sanders Park.

The Oddsocks Theatre Company will be presenting an open air performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Avoncroft Museum of Buildings, in Stoke Heath, on Sunday night.

This Tuesday, Science Museum Live is presenting The Energy Show at the Artrix Theatre, while the Acoustic Cafe, being held at Plaza Coffee in Chapel Street off High Street, welcomes poets and musicians on Wednesdays from 3pm.
