A MUSIC shop owner near Redditch raised cash for charity by hosting a concert.

Clive Fokes recently opened The Courtyard Music shop in Tardebigge and wanted to make people more aware of his new business.

Mr Fokes said: “The first thing was to get the shops name out there, I thought let’s a have party let’s do something with it let’s have a charity event.”

The Steve Gibbons Band, Brothers Groove and others played for free and raised £330 for Primrose hospice.

The local charity supports cancer patients and their families in North Worcestershire.

K and G loaned scaffolding to use to form a stage for the event.

Donations for the raffle were made by local businesses including Tardebigge court cafe, Olive Tree Nails, VIP Eye Wear and Beau clothing.

Redditch was recently voted in a study by Plos One journal to be the ‘least musically sophisticated’ part of Britain.

Due to the success of this year’s event the shop owner now plans to repeat the event for a different charity next year.
