A GROUP of friends from Bromsgrove are taking part in a challenging rally adventure to raise money for a cancer charity.

The team, named Bleating on a Prayer, is taking part in Monte Carlo or Bust 2014 this weekend, (July 18-20).

The challenge is to purchase a car for less than £250, travelling in it through Europe to Monte Carlo within three days.

Teams are also asked to choose a theme and decorate their vehicle, so the team decided to turn their Daihatsu Sirion - purchased for the challenge - into a sheep named Baabaara.

The five members of the team are Leigh Brecknell, Sam Williams, Sam Ward, Luka Husbands and Alex McCondichie, and to follow the theme they will be dressing as shepherds and sheep for the challenge.

All the money raised from the challenge is being donated to Cancer Research UK, which helps pioneer research to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Luka said: "A few weeks ago, we discovered an event taking place that we just had to take part in.

"Based on a movie, it consists of approximately 80 vehicles with the dastardly Sir Cuthbert Ware-Armitage trying to sabotage the event.

"We thought this would be a great opportunity to raise money for a good cause - we have already raised over £250."

Anyone who wants to make a donation can do so by visiting justgiving.com/teams/bleatingonaprayer. Alternatively text BBAA99 and the amount being donated eg, £1 and £2, to 70070.
