PUPILS at a Bromsgrove school donned special school hats worn by their counterparts more than 60 years ago.

Ira Murphy, who attended North Bromsgrove High School in the late 1940s and early 1950s, has donated vintage hats from that period to the school.

Youngsters at the School Drive-based school have been viewing the hats, and tried them on.

Wearing the hats after the Second World War was compulsory, with youngsters having to wear them on the way home when school finished.

Peter Lopeman, from the school, added that there were even prefects travelling on Bromsgrove buses who were tasked with making sure the pupils had their hats on at all times.
