A BROMSGROVE man will participate in his first triathlon to raise money for a school friend’s Kenyan charity.

Jack Webster will take part in a 400m swim, a 20km cycle ride and a 5km run to support Our Home Nakuru, a community focused organisation with an orphanage.

The 24-year-old has less than two weeks to achieve his £1,000 target before he takes part in The Droitwich Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, July 27.

He was inspired to tackle the challenge by Our Home Nakura managing director Billy Jones.
Before training for this competition Mr Webster had not been to a gym in more than a year - making three months of training an essential part of his challenge.

He said: “My family all laughed when I first said I was doing it. I am not one to go to the gym.
“It really amazes me what Billy has done by giving up a few years of his life.

“It's all for a good cause I've targeted £1,000 which I think is definitely achievable so please dig deep and donate.”

Mr Jones said: “I think he is amazing and I actually laughed when he told me. He has a beer belly and smokes 20-a-day but it’s actually a really nice thing.”

“He has always been very supportive of me it’s a pleasure to have him as a friend.”

Mr Jones also 24 and from Bromsgrove started the charity in 2012 because he wanted to help vulnerable families in Kenya and gain “grass roots experience.”

Mr Webster has already raised more than £700 for the charity.
