TWO district parks have once again received prestigious national awards.

Bromsgrove District Council’s Lickey End Park and Sanders Park each received Green Flag Awards, given only to the best parks in England and Wales.

Councillor Michael Webb, whose portfolio covers leisure, said: “We are over the moon that these two parks have once again received Green Flag Awards.

“The people of Bromsgrove District will continue to benefit from and enjoy two spectacular recreational green spaces of the highest quality.

“Lots of hard work has gone in to maintaining such a high standard and everyone involved should be very proud.”

Sanders Park, which has held this prestigious title for more than five years, maintained its high standards by improving the tennis courts, planting around the café, removing overgrown cypress trees and relining the car park.

Further tree planting is to take place over the next two seasons.

Conservation works on the hedges surrounding the park and fencing to prevent unsafe access on to the road has been completed at Lickey End Park.

Over the winter, more signs will be presented at the entrances and further conservation hedge laying will be completed.

This is Lickey End Park’s third award.

Awards of recognition were given to 1,476 parks and green spaces.
