A HOSPICE is calling on Bromsgrove and Redditch residents to continue supporting its new fundraising campaign.

The Primrose Hospice, based in St Godwald’s Road, is holding a Big Appeal to raise £100,000 for the service.

The charity provides support to cancer patients and their families.

The hospice currently costs £1.6 million a year to run and it is hoped £100,000 can be raised - enough to fund its care services for 80 days.

Helen Garfield chief executive officer said: “So often I hear fearful views of the hospice as people see it as a last resort.

"Even my father was not keen to use hospice services as he felt it was a one way ticket.

"I am really keen that people get over their fear and realise the huge range of support we offer not only to families and children of people with life limiting illness but also to patients who survive a cancer diagnosis.

"One of our patients Elaine Jordan has had an amazing journey and is now not only running her own business but is also working one day a week for us as well as volunteering for us."

People can support the Big Appeal both by donating money or organising a fundraising event.

To donate to the appeal call 01527 889 796, visit primrosehospice.org/bigappeal or text PHBA01 followed by £12, £26 or £56 to 70070.

Cheques made out to Primrose Hospice can be sent to BIG Appeal, Primrose Hospice, St Godwald’s Road, Bromsgrove, B60 3BW.

Alternatively cash donations can simply be dropped off at any of the hospice's six shops in Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Studley, Rubery, Headless Cross or Redditch.
