Teens to hold event to raise money for charity

TEENAGERS from Bromsgrove are giving back to the community by holding a fundraising event in aid of Mind UK and Breast Cancer Campaign.

The team of 31 are from Engage 4 Life a government funded scheme for youths as a part of the National Citizen Service (NCS).

NCS is open to all 16 and 17-year-olds and was set up by the government to help young people develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility, skills which can be used for work and life.

The event’s entertainment will include; bouncy castles for young children, toys sold on stalls, a raffle running with a prize of a two course meal in the restaurant at Hillscourt and live music from a number of artists.

There will be a variety of food and drink on offer with a bake sale and Ice cream.

As part of the project the team visited Wales and Stratford-upon-Avon and now are planning to give back to the project and their neighbourhood by helping others.

The group’s media representative Jasmine Gill, 16, said: “As a team we really want to give something back to the community as young people. We want to prove that young people can make a difference by helping others.

“The money will greatly benefit the community help local people suffering from mental illness and breast cancer.

“These charities are very close to the team as many members have experienced it from relatives and close ones.”

The group are supported by two supervisors.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event which will be held on Sunday, August 31 at 11:30am to 8pm in at the Dodford Inn.
