CATSHILL Library hosted a workshop with writer and performer Christopher Green.

Getting into character Mr Green performed as Ida Barr, an old aged pensioner who enjoys hip hop and rap with a twist from the music hall era.

Six adults and nine children attended the free library event on Friday, August 15.

The workshop was put on as part of ‘I Spy Culture’ where national and international artists across various genres including: dance, theatre, circus, music and performance, lead free workshops at local libraries throughout the area.

On Saturday, August 23, families were invited to attend a free day trip to an outdoor arts festival in Birmingham.

Transport to and from the event was also free and organised by the library.

Three families travelled to Birmingham hippodrome to take part in a large scale performance with Ida which saw the children become back-up singers and dancers for the act.

The event was put on by Hippodrome Plus, a scheme which aims to provide everyone a high quality arts programme and a wide range of free arts events and activities including workshops and cultural excursions.
