SLIDING doors to aid accessibility for disabled visitors have now been installed at a Bromsgrove arts centre.
The Artrix in Slideslow Drive held a ceremony to celebrate the official opening of the new entrance which was funded by Worcestershire County Council.
Councillor Anthony Blagg and members of Amber Support Services attended the event held on Monday, September 29.
Through the new upgrade the centre has been awarded a Bromsgrove No Barriers Disabled Access Award.
Cllr Anthony Blagg said: “The Council is delighted to have played a part in this project which will make a positive difference to the lives of disabled people in Bromsgrove. We would like to encourage more local organisations to follow suit and improve their accessibility.”
Artrix director Ros Robins said: “We’re always seeking to enhance the experience of visitors to Artrix and this is a small but significant change for our disabled patrons. Our sincere thanks go to the Council for their generous funding of this project”
The centre already has a number of features to assist those who need specialist help these include disabled toilets, lifts and wheelchair spaces in the theatre as well as a hearing loop.
