SIGHT Concern is appealing for people who can give one morning a week, in Redditch or Bromsgrove, to join its expanding team of volunteers.

Sight Concern Worcestershire has provided services from the Bradbury Centre in Worcester for over a decade. But after consulting clients, and finding that they wanted access to services nearer to home, Sight Concern is setting up new services in both Redditch and Bromsgrove.

A spokesman said: "We need volunteers to assist us at our weekly drop in information and advice services and weekly support groups which will offer a brand new range of activities for blind and partially sighted people.

"We also need volunteer drivers. We are working in partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service to provide transport for those people unable to travel independently.

"We hope to have the new services up and running in the new year but we can’t start them without volunteers."

Anyone who can commit regularly to volunteer driving in the locality, contact David Muggeridge, service manager of the Royal Voluntary Service, on 01527 879290 or 07834 651508 for further information.

People who feel they can commit to helping on a weekly basis at the new drop in and support group sessions in Bromsgrove or Redditch, contact Sight Concern’s volunteer co-ordinator Margaret Merritt on 01905 723245, or email margaret@sightconcern.co.uk for further details. Full training will be given.
