A CHARITY concert will be getting townsfolk into the festive spirit this weekend.

Blackwell Concert Band will be performing at Catshill Methodist Church, in Golden Cross Lane, on Saturday, November 29.

It is the fourth concert organised by the band to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity the band first began fundraising for in 2011 after secretary Vicky Stock was diagonosed with breast cancer.

In 2012 it hosted the biggest concert to date at the Adrian Boult Hall, which raised an impressive £2,500.

Vicky said: "We are very much looking forward to the concert this year, especially as we have the added excitement of launching our new CD officially at the concert, and also welcoming Blackwell Training Band, who only started up this year, in what is their first formal concert.

"I found Macmillan such a great source of information and support when I was diagnosed in 2009, and now five years later I take part in fundraising and volunteering, to try and help others going through a similar experience.”

Tickets are available from Vicky by calling 0121 244 1662 or email stock.vicky@yahoo.co.uk.

The concerts starts at 7.30pm.
