CHILDREN from a Rednal playgroup have been wearing festive jumpers to raise money for a children's charity.

The Plus 2's group from St Stephen's Church, in Edgewood Road, took part in the fundraiser on December 12.

As well as wearing Christmas jumpers, families brought in cakes to sell and the youngsters were able to decorate cut out jumpers.

The event raised money for Save the Children, which fights for children rights and helps to save childrens lives, and was part of the charity's "Make the world better with a sweater" fundraising campaign.

Julie Kite-Lightfoot, the playgroup's manager, said: "We feel it is important to help people less fortunate than ourselves and do this through fun activities.

"The children, and parents and carers, all loved showing off their Christmas jumpers to each other."
