VOLUNTEERS from the Prince’s Trust who are based at Heart of Worcestershire College, have spent time at a farm for disadvantage inner-city children building wigwams and making see-saws and tunnels for rabbits.

The 20 volunteers, who are all aged between 16 and 25 spent two weeks at Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm near Bromsgrove, helping turn allotments into ’pick your own fruit’ patches for visiting children to enjoy, and creating a new play area for the farm’s resident rabbits and guinea pigs.

The volunteers said that they had found the project to be a challenging and enjoyable experience, which they hoped young people would get good use out of for years to come.

Kelly Broadfield, resident warden at the farm, added: “We’re extremely grateful for the work the volunteers from The Prince’s Trust via Heart of Worcestershire College have done for us.

“We rely largely on donations and income from school visits and have only three members of staff so we value work from volunteers very highly. We’d love to hear from any other organisations or companies that would be interested in helping out at the farm.”
