STAFF and students at the Heart of Worcestershire College have been celebrating after winning a prestigious award.

The college received the Outstanding use of Technology award at this year's TES FA awards, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Comedian, novelist and TV presenter David Baddiel hosted the ceremony and presented the award to the college at the event, held last Friday, (February 27).

The college, which has campuses in Bromsgrove and Redditch, has a cross college blended learning curriculum, which was unanimously found to be the strongest entry in this category.

The judges praised how the college “prioritised a focus on the blend of teaching and learning, and ensured that staff have the confidence and capability to use technology effectively”.

They were also impressed by the college’s: “strategic, multi-layered and whole organisation approach to embedding digital technology into all processes”.

The college’s approach has had a significant impact across FE. It led a Skills Funding Agency-backed project to develop the curriculum and qualifications for e-learning professionals, presenting at more than 14 educational events and hosting two day-long conferences, which were attended by more than 100 delegates.

ILT Director, Peter Kilcoyne, said: “The ILT team are thrilled to have won this award.

"It’s great recognition for all their hard work in supporting the use of online learning both in the college and in the wider sector.

"The award also recognises the outstanding work of many colleagues across the college who have contributed to making online learning a success on so many of our courses."
