STAFF and children at Jellybabies Nursery and Pre-School have been raising money for Great Ormond Street hospital with a charity coffee morning and ‘bad hair day’.

The event was organised in memory of a former pupil, Jay Demetriou, who died as a result of childhood cancer at the age of 11 in October 2013.

Nearly 200 people attended the coffee morning, including old and new parents of the nursery’s children, members of the congregation from Longbridge Methodist Church, and people from the local community.

Jay’s mum Mandi also attended the event along with local MP Richard Burden.

Children from the nursery took part in a Peter Pan themed fun day in the hall, by coming to nursery with mad hair, and many of them dressed as tinkerbell, Peter Pan, pirates and fairies, enjoying a bouncy castle in exchange for a donation to the charity.

The coffee morning also included complimentary therapies, a nail bar, a homemade cards sale, and a cake sale, and managed to raise an impressive £844.06 for Great Ormond Street.

Jacqueline Walker from the nursery, said: “It was so lovely to see the coffee pot full for the whole morning of people who turned up to show their support for Jay’s family.

“The event could not have been the success it was without the support of all the helpers who gave their time and services free of charge and to everyone who came along on the day.”
