POP princess Beth Sherburn won the hearts of Bromsgrove schoolchildren after she serenaded them, and then delivered a serious message to help keep them safe on the internet.

She spent an hour with around 300 students, aged 13 and 14, at South Bromsgrove High School on Tuesday, June 30.

And she went down a storm, with the teenagers swamping her for autographs at the end.

Singer/songwriter Beth, aged 24, a former Dudley shop assistant, who has performed alongside acts like The Saturdays, Conor Maynard, Katy B and Kimberley Wyatt, spoke of how she has had friends who have suffered from cyber bullying.

After singing several numbers, including her recent release Joker, which featured American rap artist Lil Wayne, she gave the youngsters tips on how to stay safe online.

She advised them never to give out personal information or meet strangers online, to keep a record of messages they receive to show to an adult, to report bullying on social networking sites and not to retaliate against bullies.

Kristy Pascoe, assistant headteacher at South Bromsgrove High, said: "We are aware we need to support and educate students on their safety and Beth's appearance here came at the end of a day of activities, including a theatre workshop, about online safety.

"She was absolutely fabulous - and at the end she was surrounded by pupils for her autograph.

"Since she performed here pupils have put lots of nice messages for her on Facebook and Twitter."
