ANIMAL lovers are being invited to support a charity's summer fete being held in Bromsgrove this September.

The Blue Cross charity is holding the fete on Saturday, September 5.

The fete is taking place at the Blue Cross centre in Wildmoor Lane, between noon and 4pm.

Visitors can see and enjoy various attractions including birds of prey, go karts, circus skills workshops, children's activities, music from local bands, drumming and dancing.

The annual raffle will be drawn by local DJ and comedian Jonny Cole.

Food stalls will be offering tempting treats, ranging from savoury pastries to homemade dips and local cider.

There will be a fun dog show, starting at 1pm.

It costs 50p to enter, with classes including best child handler, dog with the waggiest tail, and best six legs.

Also Roycey will be taking a break from his stints as X Factor warm up comic to provide entertaining commentary. Rosettes and prizes will be given for first to sixth place.

Dogs rehomed from the centre will be taking part in a grand parade reunion at 12.50pm in the main show ring, and there will be goody bags for all participants.

Money raised at the event is being donated to the Catshill-based centre and its work helping homeless and sick animals, as well as a rebuild appeal.

Currently the centre is being revamped. Once complete the centre will boast modern, spacious kennels and a cattery, and maternity unites for puppies and kittens.

A veterinary clinic, housing for new arrivals and a dedicated behaviour assessment area, is also being built.

Visitors will see the final sponsored challenge between centre managers Neil and Robbi who have been raising funds towards the appeal.

Their last test will see them eating a variety of foods including jellied eels, dog food and a Brussel sprout smoothie, the winner eating them in the quickest time.
