RUBERY residents are being invited to the next meeting of Rubery PACT forum being held in September.

The meeting, being held this Monday, September 7, will focus on feedback by representatives of Bromsgrove District Council and Worcestershire County Council, to points raised at a recent public meeting on the future for New Road and the village.

Many issues were raised at the public meeting, held at Beacon Church Centre, that reflected concerns of the community and topics, including proposing changes to improve the appearance of the heart of the village.

The major topics were insufficient parking, narrow service roads, low quality public toilets, help for a street based craft market and farmers markets, no focal point in the form of a community centre, to relook at the 1996 plans to renovate the layout of New Road and to investigate financial assistance to assist new retail businesses.

There were suggestions for cosmetic improvements in the form of painting bridge railings, upgrading bus shelters and to provide more benches. A proposal to block pave all footpaths outside shops to provide a uniform appearance, similar to Bromsgrove High Street was also made.

The PACT meeting will be held at Waseley Hills High School, in School Road, at 7pm.
