BELBROUGHTON residents can hail the ale and enjoy comedy and music at an event being held in the village this September.

Belbroughton Beer and Music Festival has continued to grow in recent years, the 2014 event giving visitors a choice of more than 130 real ales and ciders from up to 100 producers.

The festival is being held between Thursday, September 10, and Saturday, September 12, at the site in Hartle Lane, Belbroughton.

As well as beers, there will also be ciders and perries to sample.

The festival has replaced its old marquee and in its place will be four new tipis, with festival stalls, the Sadler’s Bus stage and the main stage.

The festival begins on the Thursday night with a comedy night, featuring Gary Delaney, Andy White and Michael Crump.

The site opens at 6pm with a 7.30pm start for the comedy.

Friday and Saturday will see music with headliners including Leatherat and Clutching At Straws, while other acts include Boat to Row, Esther Turner, Emi McDade, Mitchell Jinks, Beauty and The Greek and John Townly Duo.

Visitors will also be entertained with fire performers and Aculus Rift virtual reality experience.

James Baskett, helping to organise the event, said: "Beginning back in 2006, Belbroughton Beer and Music Festival serves and celebrates the best of British brewing and music.

"Belbroughton has made a name for itself as one of the country's biggest beer festivals.

"Musically, Belbroughton has played host to some of the best local, and even regional talent for many years but this year, with the addition of a new stage and arena area, Belbroughton will become one of the most exciting music events in the Midlands.”
